"During every dark-stormy nights
My fragile boat keeps its old promise
With a rekindled new spirit."
~~~***~~~
I have heard about Haiku when I was in college. But never tried to write it untill Sameera tagged me do so. Haiku is one of the most important form of traditional Japanese poetry, where the poems are simple, small and not rhymed. It is nothing but a depiction of nature in its innumerable aspects.
Few simple rules for writing in this form of poetry are:
1. Three lines of verse consisting of five, seven, and five syllables.
2. Each haiku must contain a seasonal word, may not strictly be a typical one. For example: snow denotes winter.
It is my first attempt to Haiku. And believe me friends it's a great fun writing one. All Thanks to Sameera...I ventured into a new world of poetry and enjoying every bit of it.
P.S : It is a wrongly done Haiku. :( But I guess you all will ignore it as I am just a beginner. From next time I will take care of the syllables.... I Promise :) . After all i am in the learning process. :P
Thnx for informing me Lena and Sameera :)
Now as per the tag rule.... i will tag : SPIRIT.
ReplyDeleteHi Preetilata,
ReplyDeleteI'm not so familiar with Haiku but I do appreciate your poem. It has layers and layers of meanings. I see you as the boat that sails the sea of life no matter what the situation maybe. You have a strong sail and it battles against the winds of changing fortunes. You just stay on course and go with the wind. In due time you will hit land fall and deliverance. Thanks for the beautiful post. God bless and have a wonderful and pleasant day always.
:P :P lolz haiku needs some research work before it is clearly comprehended by us :P
Hi Preetilata,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit to my blog and for the warm greetings. May I greet you the best of the holidays too. That was a beautiful poem you have.
I wish I could also make a poem like that. God bless.
good haiku, but i dint get it.....And i feel it must have taken a good time to write it out
ReplyDeleteHi Preetilata, just read your haiku. It is a pretty good start for a beginner. The history of haiku is quite interesting.It was originally used by Japanese zen masters( Zen is a 'Japanese School of Philosophical thought') to convey abstract metaphysical truths. There is no rhyme and meter, as you had pointed out, but it must create a visual image in the mind of the reader. Deceptively simple, they can be profoundly deep in meaning. I do sincerely hope you write many more haikus. Cheers!!!
ReplyDeletegood attempt!!!! hmmm.. i think i'll try it out!!!
Preeti, I have tagged you to list out 5 of your favoutite links. Check out the details here.
ReplyDeleteKool Haiku there buddy! Way to go... Loved the pic.
ReplyDeletehmm i believe that they all have already made some wonderful comments towards this artful poetry that i lack any other words to convey my feelings towards this picturesque poem..
ReplyDelete;-)
Have you checked out www.poetry.com?
ReplyDeleteThey have a daily haiku contest.
I love it dearie, who cares if you did it 'wrong'. Write your own rules in the world. Ten dollars says I do mine wrong too. ;) I'll get started on it right away tonight, and btw I have NOT forgotten about those awards you gave me. It often takes me awhile to make those posts because I like to think very carefully of what I want to say.
ReplyDeletePS> I have your poem done I should be putting it on my private blog today or tomarrow but no promises since I have to shimmy on over to work soon. :)
Where is the rightly done haiku?
